Cool Games for Hot Days

One of the great things about gaming is that you can explore new worlds without leaving your house. It’s summer, and people want to be out & about — but in this heat wave, you don’t want to leave the safety & comfort of your A/C. There’s a batch of new games coming out that let you exercise your need to explore.

Prey Xbox360Prey is about to come out for the Xbox 360. It’s one of the most innovative game ideas we’ve seen in a while. It plays like a cross between DOOM and Myst. You’ll explore a massive alien ship; the level designs are unlike anything we’ve seen. Not only do you explore it physically, but you can leave your body & go “spirit-walking.” The puzzles are mind-bending and the gameplay will give you vertigo — all wrapped up in a pretty intriguing storyline. Prey is already getting good reviews on both Gamerankings and Gamespot; if you really want to see what the Xbox 360 can do & want a good action-adventure experience too, Prey is your best bet.

LuminesPainkiller: Hell Wars is another butt-stomping action shooter. This sequel to the hit PainKiller is nothing but action. You’ll gun down endless swarms of monsters from Hell; by the time you’re done, you’ll be sweating and riding an adrenaline high. You don’t need to hit the gym when you pick this up. When fantasy isn’t really your thing, you can get into the world of professional sports with EA’s 2007 Sports Line. Whatever your game is, EA’s got your covered. We’d recommend NFL, NBA and NHL 2K7 for some of the most exciting and realistic sports gaming you can get. If you’d rather work out your brain instead of your body, we suggest Lumines for PSP. It’ll exercise your brain and your reflexes, plus it gets you good and ready for Lumines II, which is due out soon.
