A CD Changer is made for iPod?

Yamaha CD-C600 CD Changer

New Yamaha CD-C600 CD Changer is made for iPod

It seems that DVD changers in the home audio component market have overshadowed CD audio changers. Nonetheless, Yamaha Electronics Corporation has introduced the CD-C600 five-disc CD changer, the company’s first “Made for iPod” model in the category. The CD-C600 offers superior audio and wide playback compatibility with portable music players and hard drives via USB connection, as well as PlayXchange that lets users continue listening to music as non-playing discs are switched in and out.

Features supporting the CD-C600’s iPod compatibility include the transmission and conversion of the digital signal, without degradation, to analog with high performance digital-to-analog converters. Connected iPods can be controlled via the unit’s remote control to command the play, pause, skip and forward/backward functions. Song, artist and album names are also shown on the CD-C600’s display. When the power is on and the USB mode selected, the iPod charges automatically.

High sound quality is delivered via Yamaha’s proprietary Pure Direct technology, extremely sophisticated circuitry and short signal paths. Activated via the CD-C600’s front panel and remote, Pure Direct shuts down the digital audio output and turns off the display. This results in the lowest possible noise interference and highest sound quality for the analog audio output. The model’s high performance D/A Conversion System, developed and perfected by Yamaha, ensures excellent conversion precision, signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range.

Playback reliability and performance is enhanced by the laser pickup floating mechanism that deters “skipping” and loss of audio from vibration during play. Intelligent Digital Servo overcomes playback errors caused by such factors as disc defects, and dust.

The CD-C600’s RS-232C interface and IR in/out terminals enable easy integration into custom-installed systems. Convenience features of the CD-C600 include 3-Mode CD Text display, which shows the disc title, artist name and title of the track playing, disc (intro) scan, programmable play, as well as single disc and disc-to-disc random and repeat play.

The CD-C600’s disc tray opens wide enough that all five discs can be accessed and changed at once. Playback compatibility includes MP3 and WMA files as well as content on CD-R/RW media.

For discriminating audio enthusiasts, the Yamaha CD-C600 offers superior sound and iPod interactivity.
