A Pool Party in Brooklyn
Believe it or not, Brooklyn’s newest hot hangout is a public pool. Greenpoint’s McCarren Park Pool has been empty for years, but it’s been reopened - as a stage and concert area. Instead of filling it with water, it fills with audience members; concertgoers sit in the empty pool and look up at the group as they perform on the deck. The acoustics of the sound bouncing off the empty pool walls create an effect similar to the better concert halls and opera houses. It’s a totally unique musical experience.
There have been a lot of great events at McCarren Park Pool over the summer - you can see a list of past and upcoming shows HERE. There’s a lot of good stuff happening, but what you WON’T see listed are shows the Pool is hosting from the end of July through August. Here’s a breakdown:
You can’t go wrong with any of these shows or performers. Just remember to bring sun protection and a water bottle.

McCarren Pool is a public space, but the shows are being run by a private company. Local musicians are concerned about this great venue being a corporate cash cow, instead of a community space. As a result, they’ve formed Pool Aid. They hope to get people into the idea of McCarren Pool being run by and for local musicians. […]
