Times are tough these days. Many of us are trying to be frugal with our expenses, but there are still some essentials to life. Good friends, family and vacations just to name a few, are all things that add to the quality of our lives. Time flies by and these things are seldom appreciated until they gone from your life. Sad but true.

One way to capture that perfect fleeting moment is through pictures. Indeed, a snapshot can say a thousand words. So how then do we do all this on a limited budget? Simple, there are many fantastic point and shoot cameras that are well under $200 that all take tremendous pictures. I’ll pick five that I think are noteworthy.

Panasonic DMC-LS80S Lumix :I own this model. This is a great unit for the money. Besides the pictures that it takes, it can take marvelous videos. The only problem is that you need to get a converter program to convert apple quicktime into mpeg2 so you can burn a dvd disc that can play on a a dvd player. The audio will play dual mono a plus. The picture and video quality is below the TZ5 but when I say below it is not that far below so the lens may say "lumix" but the pics and videos say "leica".
