
Andrea Bocelli, was seen checking digital recorders with the help of an assistant, at J&R on Park Row.
Bocelli was named one of People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People of 1998, sold-out Madison Square Garden for a recent (June 17th) concert and is one of the most popular opera singers of all time.
The 50-year-old singer, whose success has come in the last decade, has sung duets with a diverse range of performers, from Luciano Pavarotti to Bono. At last year’s Emmys, he teamed up with Josh Groban. If Bocelli has a favorite among the singers with whom he has done duets, the tenor isn’t telling. “I love voices,” he declared. “For me, it’s very interesting and enjoyable to share the responsibility and the beauty of the stage.”
Bocelli has fans around the world, including many in high places. He has performed for two Popes, two United States Presidents, Queen Elizabeth II and many other notables. The tenor, speaking to Myrna Petlicki for the Sun-Times News Group through a translator, says of his success, “reality has exceeded every dream.”
