Apple Stuffs 8 Cores into Their Mac Pro

Mac Pro

Been waiting to get one of Apple’s monster Mac Pro towers for your video editing/Photoshopping/geeking needs? Well, wait no longer. Apple has just upgraded their flagship towers, offering up to 8 cores in the shiny rectangles. Yes, now you have the option to slap in a couple of quad-core 3.0GHz Intel Xeon processors. Of course, this upgrade is far from cheap, with it shooting the tower price up to a whopping $4,000, but hey, you said you wanted the best.

That many cores are far from necessary for most applications, so if you just want your email program to open faster and solitaire to not crash when you’re about to win, you should be perfectly fine with basically any new Mac out there today. But if you’re planning to run Avid on a dual-monitor setup or want to really rock the Bootcamp dual OS setup as fast as possible, there’s basically no way you’ll be disappointed with 8 cores. Well, until you check your bank account, but you knew what you were getting into.
