Apple upgraded their line of high-end MacBook Pro laptops yesterday, delivering faster speeds and better efficiency for the same price as the older models. Upgrading to the new Intel Santa Rosa chipset, the computers got a boost with faster Intel Core 2 Duo processors first and foremost. They also got boosts in the memory, graphics, and hard drive departments. Basically every aspect of the computers was given a step up.
Furthermore, the 15-inch models now have LED-backlit monitors, which use less power and turn on faster, while the 17-inch models had their resolution boosted up to 1,920×1,200, at least if you’re willing to pay an extra $100 for that. Overall, it’s a good improvement to the line, and if you were waiting for the right time to invest in Apple’s top-of-the-line notebook series, that time has come.
