When MP3 audio players were introduced, competition was to get it to the smallest size but when photos and video files got involved in the mix screen sizes got larger. Subsequently, Netbooks emerged as tiny Windows-based notebooks that could access the Internet and download lots of audio and video files. Archos was one digital media player manufacturer that realized customers sought larger screens and memory capacities for storing and viewing videos. Now Archos introduces the Archos 5 as an Internet Media Tablet.

Nested between a handheld digital media player and a netbook, the Archos 5 becomes the ultimate way to surf the web. The amazingly sharp and high-resolution 4.8″ TFT LCD touch-sensitive screen lets you navigate effortlessly through the web just like you would on a PC. Browsing becomes almost seamless with the ARM Cortex processor and the Adobe Flash 9 video support. The full email application lets you read, write, download and send attachments, and manage your contacts.

Among the four Archos 5 models, you can select internal hard drive storage of 60GB, 120GB, 160GB and 250GB. 250 GB can store up to 300 Movies or 2.5 million photos or 145,000 songs. The overall size is 3 inches x 5 inches at only around a half-inch thin. It weighs a little over 9 ounces.

You can play movies in HD or DVD quality for the richest media experience on the go. Enjoy your ARCHOS contents played directly back to your TV, with the DVR Station. Schedule TV recordings from any channel on your cable or set-top box in just a few clicks. Then choose when and where you want to watch them. Play back all your digital content from your Archos 5 to your TV, even in HD quality, at 720p.

With 800×480 screen resolution, you can browse the Web in full width just like on your PC. Archos 5 has 802.11g wireless WiFi built-in and ready for use in compatible hotspots. Once connected to a WiFi network, the ARCHOS 5 email software lets you to check your emails whenever you want. You can see the number of awaiting emails right on the ARCHOS 5 home screen, reply to emails, or share attachments with anyone. The Archos email application is the feature that lets you stay in touch while on the go.
