  • NYC Celebrates the Yankees!

J&R would like to congratulate the New York Yankees on their 27th World Series win! We were proud to have a float in the parade that worked its way through the Canyon of Heroes. Andy Pettitte, along with his family were on the J&R float.

The last World Series victory for the Yankees was in 2000, so it had been almost a decade since the Yankees had a ticker-tape parade. Fans started lining up as early as 4 in the morning in anticipation of the celebration.

We here at J&R are beyond thrilled to have been a part of the parade. It truly was an honor to be a sponsor of this event. Enjoy these photos from the parade!

  • The Beatles Remastered…Finally.

Think you own everything there is to own by The Beatles? Think again, buddy. On September 9th, 2009 (yes, 9-9-09), remastered versions of all the Beatles’ studio albums will finally be released.

Wondering why this is such a big deal? Well, the Beatles and their respective estates are extremely protective of their music. Their albums weren’t even released on CD until 1987, years after most artists had started putting their catalog out on the format. And since then, very little has been done to update it.

Well, the wait is over finally. The original twelve albums have been remastered and are now packaged with expanded liner notes and mini-documentary films about the making of each album. The films include rare photos and previously unreleased in-studio banter.

  • Why Aren’t You Watching “Torchwood” Yet?

Seriously, if you consider yourself a fan of sci-fi, you have no excuse for not watching this fantastic BBC series.

The spin-off of the mega-popular British series Doctor Who just aired its third season on BBC America and it did not disappoint.

The show follows the exploits of Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones, three special-ops that investigate extraterrestrial incidents on Earth and scavenge alien technology for their own use. As the opening montage of the show states, they are “outside the government, beyond the police.” It’s a darker, more adult sci-fi series, as opposed to the family friendly Doctor Who. Think of it as a mix between The X-Files and Buffy.
