On October 18th the Dark Knight returns to video games in Batman: Arkham City and I for one can’t wait! In this sequel to the smash hit Batman: Arkham Asylum, our brooding hero finds himself challenged by not one small facility but an entire section of Gotham City itself! The walled borough of Arkham City is now home to all Gotham’s inmates from the average street thug to the criminally insane. Batman must face off against a host of villains pulled from his rich history to defeat a new threat to his cherished city.

Game Developer Rocksteady Studios once again brings us intense hand-to-hand combat, a key feature of the first game, now much improved for Arkham City. Also returning are the gadgets we grew to love. The grappling hook, cryptographic sequencer, and the infamous Batarang are only a few of the items we get to use from the Dark Knight’s Utility Belt. Batman’s ability to glide with his cape has also been reworked to provide a quick and stealthy way for the Caped Crusader to travel through Gotham.
Characters making appearances will include Two-Face, Harley Quinn, Mr. Freeze, and of course The Clown Prince of Crime, The Joker. There are many, many more but why spoil the surprises? Catwoman is a key figure in this new tale. Several times during the campaign she becomes a playable character with her own fighting style and weaponry. Batman’s sometimes girlfriend gets into a whole heap of trouble early on that sets the stage for things to come.
