The great thing about WWII is that it’s so far in our past that it’s perfectly acceptable to make tons of money off of video games about it. It’s a bit too soon for the 9/11 video games or Iraq Occupation video games (they’ll come out eventually, don’t you worry), so game publishers are wisely sticking to WWII as the cornerstone of war games in 2007.
Battlestations: Midway is a super-realistic strategy game based on the air and sea battles of the Pacific Theater during WWII. You’ll be in control of all sorts of authentic period military equipment, but with a twist. Most military strategy games have you stuck in a controlling position from above, giving all the orders but not getting down into the nitty-gritty of battle. With Battlestations, you’ll get the opportunity to pilot the vehicles first-hand during intense battle sequences, making this a great hybrid of war strategy and action games. Originally developed for XBox, the creators took the extra time to make the graphics really stand out and are now releasing it for the XBox 360, giving you all the WWII action you can handle on today’s top console.
