Bjork’s Volta Brings Different Artists Together

Bjork Volta

Bjork is one of the most influential and creative musicians of our time. Her ability to reach out musically and try new things is complimented by her amazing and distinctive voice, and she’s amassed an enormous, ravenous fan base over the years by constantly pushing the boundaries of music.

While her new album, Volta, isn’t as out-there as Medulla, her last album, which consisted completely of human sounds with no instruments, Volta keeps Bjork’s music moving forward.

Featuring collaborations with such disparate artists as Timbaland, Antony, and Konono No. 1, among others, Bjork proves again that she refuses to be boxed into one genre or type of music. What results from these collaborations bring the voices of the guests to what is still a distinctly Bjork affair, one of her strongest albums in years. From the opening beats of first single, opening track, and Timbaland collaboration Earth Intruders to the seven and a half minute epic Antony duet The Dull Flame of Desire to the closing notes of My Juvenile, the album has an organic, orchestral feel to it that makes it stand apart from everything else out there today.

Bjork
is playing three sold out shows here in New York in the near future, but even if you can’t make it to one of those be sure not to miss what’s sure to be one of the finest albums of the year when it’s released early next month.
