BlackBerry Curve Combines Work, Play

Blackberry Curve

Until now, if you wanted a fully-loaded BlackBerry you’d need to ditch any fun media features that come on less business-centric phones. Sure, there’s the BlackBerry Pearl, but its lack of a full QWERTY keyboard made it more of a media phone with BlackBerry on the side than a BlackBerry with media components. A true hybrid is now finally on its way, and there will be much rejoicing.

The BlackBerry Curve is a full-on BlackBerry with a QWERTY keyboard and mobile web access, but it’s also got the media trimmings the kids have gotten used to over the past couple years: 2-megapixel digital camera, video player, music player, and photo viewer. It’s the total package, and one that’s sure to be huge when it comes out. Some publications are already calling it an iPhone killer and the phone of the year, although I’d say it’s a little early to be making such bold claims. In any case, BlackBerry addicts should be getting excited, as their long, cold compromise between work and play will soon come to an end.
