It’s the story of Merida, the daughter of a king in ancient Scotland. Merida is a tomboy and a terrific archer. Her father the King, who’s nemesis is a bear called Mordu (who he lost his foot from while protecting Merida when she was small) is a kind man. Her mother, while loving, tries to teach Merida what being a princess is supposed to be. She is tough on her and demands that she learn many things. Merida puts up with this…until the Queen wants her to choose a suitor. After a mysterious trip into the forest and a spell that really changes things (I don’t want to spoil everything), Merida has to work with her mother to make things back to the way they were. There’s comic relief in the form of Merida’s much younger triplet brothers.
