One of the little known features of the iPhone 4s was the introduction of a new version of Bluetooth. Bluetooth 4.0 offers feature upgrades on 3.0, with greater speed. A key difference is a change in the integrated chip (IC) and much lower energy consumption. As more products begin to adopt Bluetooth 4.0, wireless users can enjoy added use with more available wireless time.
Considering that CES is this coming week, I think it’s smart that Roku Inc. has decided to unveil its newest streaming device now. Called the Roku Streaming Stick, this device no larger than say a USB drive, brings streaming video content to TVs without the need for wires or an extra remote.
The stick plugs into the Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) now appearing on the next generation of televisions. Not to worry, big names like Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, and others are already backing this new technology. The stick will provide the same great features as the more familiar Roku Set-top boxes. Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, and HBO Go are but a few of the 400 entertainment services now available through Roku. The added plus of not needing an additional remote means you’ll be able to control the stick with your televisions existing remote.
