Clear Your Calendar: Gears of War Now Available for XBox 360
Today marks the release of perhaps the biggest non-Wii or Playstation 3 related game of the year: Gears of War. Created by the masterminds behind the super-popular Unreal Tournament series, Gears of War is one of the most beautiful and intense games ever released for a console.
Gears of War isn’t your typical run-and-gun game; rather, it’s all about the team play and duck-and-cover action. You’ll be hiding behind everything from burned out cars to collapsed buildings as you and your fellow marines try to take out the Locust Horde, a race of particularly nasty alien beasties who really have it out for the human race. You can play co-operatively with your buddies throughout the whole game, making this first person shooter less of a solo affair, and if you don’t have anyone around to play with you can hook up with friends over XBox Live. Needless to say, if you have an HDTV and an XBox 360 this is the game that will ruin your social life for the next several months. You’ve been warned.
