On Sunday April 29, 2012 Paley 100 held a screening of Ted Turner’s landmark documentary series Cold War. The twenty-four episode compilation screening was followed by a panel discussion with Ted Turner, series Executive Producers Pat Mitchell and Sir Jeremy Isaacs, and the Honorable President Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev. Several special guests were also in attendance, including our own Rachelle Friedman, CEO of J&R.

CNN’s Cold War was the first major documentary covering the subject and is regarded as the definitive work on the fifty year military and political struggle between the Communist and Western worlds. The documentary garnered a George Foster Peabody Award for Excellence in 1998.
This event marks the DVD release of the twenty-four episode documentary which took three years to make and was compiled from more 10,000 hours of original footage.

Of the event, Rachelle Friedman remarked: “To be in the room with Henry Kissinger, Mikhail Gorbachev and Sir Jeremy Isaacs and listen to them discuss such an interesting time in world history was truly amazing. I highly recommend this set.”
CNN’s Cold War releases on DVD on Tuesday May 8, 2012.
