Sometimes a mouse and keyboard just won’t cut it. You’ve got data to input, and you need a third tool to help you get the job done. Right? Well, Griffin hopes so. The 1042-PMT USB Multimedia Controller and Input Device is designed to act as an easy way to scroll through things, be it a long document or the volume on a song you’re listening to. It’s pretty much just a big knob, but it’s a surprisingly handy one.
You can program it to do different things in different applications, so it can scroll down and up in Word, control the volume in iTunes, and act as a toggle knob in Final Cut Pro. It’s also a button, so you can stop the music or add an edit with a simple whap of the knob. Sure, it might not have the versatility of the keyboard and mouse, but for people who just need to be that much more productive, it could be something you get used to really quickly.
