Concierge Makes Sure You Shop Right

Grocery shopping hasn’t got much of a technological upgrade like, ever, unless you count upgrades like FreshDirect, which shouldn’t even count. I mean, is it really grocery shopping if you’re doing it in your underwear and never have to leave your apartment? Maybe yes, but let’s just pretend online grocery shopping doesn’t count here, because I’m trying to make a point. OK? Let’s move on.
Well, there’s some new technology in the aisles, finally, and it’s called Concierge. It’s a little device that’s attached to the handlebars of shopping carts, and it’s there to act as a shoppers helper. It’ll allow you to scan your products as your shop for easy check out, will help you keep track of your shopping list, will point you in the right direction when you’re looking for specific items, and can help you shop for specific recipes. It’ll even recognize you when you come back, creepily reminding you that you need to buy more shampoo, like it’s been hanging out in your shower or something. Look for larger, upscale grocery stores to start giving these things a whirl in the near future. Just try to be prepared for the shock of a new technology intruding on your regular old grocery shopping.
