All good things must sadly come to an end. How would the finale of Musicfest unfold? Would City Hall Park be able to contain the adoring fans of R&B Superstar Joe? How are the guys from Naturally 7 able to sound like real instruments? Would anyone rush the stage when Ashanti comes out? To answer the first and last question, City Hall Park was able to keep Joe’s fans from going ballistic and no one rushed the stage when Ashanti came out. As for Naturally 7, I still have no idea how those guys are capable of doing what they do, but it’s something that has to be seen to be believed.
The first performer was none other than seven-time grammy nominated Joe. Dressed in all white, he cast an angelic shadow over the stage as he sang and grooved into the hearts of the women in the crowd. He came off the stage and sang to a few lucky women in the audience. What a seasoned veteran. I wish I had skills like Joe.

Nicole Henry was up next, and what a voice she has! Her sultry vocals and smooth style were very well received. Nicole is a seasoned and accomplished singer, and having her on any bill will always be a draw.

Jo De La Rosa might be recognizable to people who watch the reality show program The Real Housewives of Orange County. Well this Housewife now has a burgeoning singing career and she hopes to take it to new heights. She impressed the crowd with seductive dance moves and upbeat, catchy vocals.

Naturally 7 is an all male “Vocal Play Band” that formed in New York City. The group consists of brothers Warren Thomas and Roger Thomas, as well as Dwight Stewart, Armand “Hops” Hutton, Garfield Buckley, Rod Eldridge and Jamal Reed. The Thomas brothers formed the group with five other musicians they had come to know after singing around New York City for years. Every instrument that is heard in their shows is created from their voices. There are no actual drums, guitars, horns, flutes, or any other instrument that is heard when listening to them perform live; it’s the band members playing each of their vocal instruments. Vocal Play is singing as instruments, and becoming an instrument with the voice. The guys had the crowd in their hands. They were very well received.

Ashanti, the princess of The Inc. was the last performer and for many in the crowd, she was the reason why they were there in the first place. She performed flawlessly. Never missing a step, she was the highlight of the afternoon for many, and was a terrific end to cap off Musicfest.

Musicfest this year was incredible. Each and every performer was great. J&R would like to thank each and everyone who came out to City Hall Park to see some very talented musicians perform. I can’t wait for Musicfest next year!
