NARM’s Definitive 200 List got its official East Coast unveiling today. We mentioned this over the weekend but we didn’t think it would be as cool as it was. After some brief words from NARM President Jim Donio, RNR Hall Of Fame President Joel Peresman, and J&R CEO Rachelle Friedman (plus an official proclamation by Mayor Bloomberg!), Chuck D took us back to the early days of hip-hop, giving praise to Hall Of Fame inductees Grandmaster Flash And The Furious Five. Tomorrow we’ll be posting an interview Chuck did with BET, as well as some footage of Chuck D showing us what CDs he bought. What does a hip-hop master pick up when he needs some inspiration? The Atlantic Rhythm & Blues 1947-1974 collection. Only he bought it on vinyl, since he’s cooler than us.
