When looking for a way to get your tunes out of your ears and into the room, the plethora of choices can be quite daunting. I had a chance to sample the D200 Bluetooth Speaker from Creative Labs and by the end of my listening adventure I wanted to keep it. The first thing that attracted me to it was the clean lines and small footprint. At a little under 16 inches wide, the D200 isn’t intrusive in any setting. I thought, “It’s small but what about the sound?” I needn’t have worried about that.
Studying the D200 I saw that it has a nice glossy black finish and fabric covered drivers. Controls are handled by a power button on the back that is accompanied by an auxiliary jack for hooking up a wired device via optional cable and an attachment for the power cord. The integrated bass port is also present next to the controls. On the top of the D200 are volume controls and a Bluetooth button. Now plugged in and ready to go I took out my iTouch, enabled the Bluetooth, depressed the button on the D200 to put it into pairing mode, and in seconds the D200 was paired with my iTouch. Selecting my go to musical piece, (what can I say, I love soundtracks!)“Battlestar Galactica Season 4: Diaspora Oratorio” by Bear McCreary, rich sound poured from the D200 easily filling the room.
I was taken by the unit’s audio ability when used with my iTouch but the tech geek that I am wanted to know how it handled a phone. Out came my Nokia Windows Phone, on went the Bluetooth, and again the connection was flawless and the music flowed. I had my friend and fellow tech geek Sabrina call me to see what would happen. The music paused, I took the call, and when the call was complete the music picked up from exactly where it had left off. Control of my music was handled from my iTouch and Phone quite easily so I could listen to what I want when I wanted to.
The D200 from Creative Labs is a wonderful Bluetooth Speaker that provides an inexpensive yet audio rich alternative for those of us like myself that are budget-minded.
