I’m pretty sure that at least 50% of my brain is taken up by quotes, jokes, and trivia from The Simpsons. I pretty much grew up on it, as when I was in middle school there were four episodes on per day in syndication, and it was rare that I missed a single one. I probably know more about Grandpa Simpson than I do about my own Grandpa. It was more than a show to me… it was a way of life.
And I know I’m not the only one, as The Simpsons’ DVD sets have been selling like hotcakes ever since they started coming out. The most recent season to hit stores is number nine, one that I consider to be the twilight of the golden years of my beloved cartoon family. It’s got some absolute classics, such as “The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson,” but you can tell that it’s starting to go downhill a little bit. This may just be the last set that I buy, as blasphemous as that may sound. If you aren’t as much of a Simpsons junkie as I am, might I recommend starting with the real high points of the series, either season four or season five. There’s not a bad episode in either of those sets, but the true faithful will still want to grab nine to get their fix.
