Fujifilm Finepix X100 – A Digital Triumph

Share

There are times when talented photographers, as art purists, don’t want to bring along a 3-pound DSLR when traveling around the world. Since its release, in 2011, the FUJIFILM X100 has gained a following of serious photographers that are attracted to its numerous features, professional qualities, and optic simplicity. At less than one pound, fully equipped, this camera is light and easy. With its traditional wide-angle lens (no zoom), it blends with the photographic eye for exceptional outdoor use. It even offers a panorama mode. After successful sales and critical acclaim, the X100 is going toward a limited class edition. With a price tag around $1700, this limited X100 may be an international status symbol for 2012. FUJIFILM Corporation is launching a limited release of 10,000 units of the high-end compact digital camera “FUJIFILM X100 BLACK Limited Edition” worldwide.

The X100 BLACK Limited Edition contains the camera unit, a genuine leather ever-ready case, a lens hood, an adapter ring and a protective filter. Each package comes with a message card reading a number as proof that it is one of only 10,000 units produced. The model will end its sales when all 10,000 units are sold out.
There’s more to the X100 than meets the eye. It symbolizes Japan’s stalwart discipline to produce and release an exceptional camera in the aftermath of its 2011 earthquake. Already the X100 has triumphed history. This Limited Edition is truly rewarding.

The X100 is a premium compact, point-&-shoot camera with automatic and creative features for superb imaging. It features the newly developed Fujinon 23mm (135 equivalent: 35mm) F2 lens with fine, precise optics with natural color depth for fine imaging. A 12-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor delivers premium images for still and video, and is the most sensitive sensor ever used in a compact FUJIFILM digital camera.

The camera is also equipped with the world’s first “Hybrid Viewfinder”, which switches between the optical viewfinder (OVF) and electronic viewfinder (EVF). It is a premium compact digital camera that incorporates cutting-edge digital functions, while offering the operability of traditional cameras with the aperture ring at the lens and the exposure compensation dial on the top deck to aid instinctive photography. It also features a 2.8” LCD touchscreen.

Since its launch, this camera has won numerous awards including Technical Image Press Association (TIPA), European Imaging and Sound (EISA), and Camera Grand Prix 2011 Editors Award.

While 10,000 units seem like a large sum for a limited edition, the black X100 is likely to sell out very soon.

this comment is about the picture of a young woman on the home page, looking at a tablet in her hand. she has the joy of someone who just tested positive for a pregnancy test after trying for five years, and not  someone who saved ten dollars on a product she could spend the rest of her life without.
why must we be brainwashed into thinking that we,too, will be thrilled when we buy this product, or any product. Joy like this should be reserved for more meaningful events in ones life and has nothing to do with shopping.

A more reserved and thoughtful depiction of a person buying something from J&R woul be appropriate and respectful towards the consumer. We are not idiots or children on Christmas morn, opening our gifts.
