Gears of War 2 Announced for Xbox 360

Gears of War was the first huge megahit for the Xbox 360, and rightfully so: it’s one of the best first person shooters ever made, with mindblowing graphics and intense gameplay that’ll leave your controller covered in cold sweat. Featuring an intuitive cover system that allowed you to duck and hide behind basically any object in the game and fire around it, it’s been oft copied but never replicated since it’s release. It’s really no surprise at all that a sequel will be made for it, then.

Gears of War 2 was only just announced today, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to get excited about it. Due in November exclusively for the Xbox 360, it’s sure to take the genre to a new level just like the original did. Returning as the hero is marine Marcus Fenix, and it’s safe to say that he’ll be taking on the Locust, the race of aliens hell-bent on exterminating the human race. Not much else is known about the storyline or gameplay, but the fact that Microsoft announced it so early means that this is going to be one of the biggest games of the year.
