Harmony Remote Redefines Universal Remote

Harmony Remote

There are universal remotes, and then there’s the Harmony 890 remote. This thing is basically the granddaddy of all remote controls, not even needing to be in the same room as your TV to control pretty much anything you own that has a remote. It uses both RF and IR signals to control your stuff, with a receiver you plug in near your TV acting as a bridge between the remote and whatever you’re trying to control

It can control your TV, receiver, DVD player, TiVo, lighting, household applicances… basically anything with a remote. It has a rechargeable battery so you don’t need to worry about buying AAs every few weeks, and the bright screen makes commanding all your various items much easier than standard remotes that are just seas of buttons. The best part? Unlike most universal remotes, this one is super-easy to set up. It’s got a setup wizard that basically walks you through everything, ending the era of having to search for codes for every appliance you want to hook up to it.
