Technology in the office, at the game, and in my garage. . . It seems that technology seeps into every facet of work and play. In the office it’s: email, fax, copy, print, scan, download & upload. At the game it’s: the juggs gun, Madden’s x’s & o’s on the screen, and instant replay from a dozen different angles (& sometimes they still don’t get it right). And in my garage it’s: a CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) machine and a computer. My all consuming hobby is building furniture. Awhile back, I was at a woodworker’s show and watched this computer driven router cut out gears for a clock mechanism. At the time, this technology was about $50,000 and for a small business I guess you could justify it, but for a hobby? Well, here we are a few years later, and it’s 1/10th of the price, and yes I justified it. I can design in CAD, and the router cuts, drills, carves, sculpts, machines.
The only limitation that the system is my imagination.
