The Dead Weather is a supergroup rock band, comprised of Jack White from The White Stripes and The Raconteurs, Alison Mosshart from The Kills, Jack Lawrence from The Raconteurs and Dean Fertita from Queens of the Stone Age. Their debut album, Horehound was released earlier this week.
The band formed when Alison Mosshart filled in for Jack White at a Raconteurs show when he lost his voice. The performance was met with such a positive reception that they decided to form a band, giving birth to The Dead Weather. Fellow Raconteur Jack Lawrence aka LJ and Dean Fertita were all down and the rest is history.
It goes without saying, if you like The White Stripes, The Kills, The Raconteurs or Queens of the Stone Age, then you will dig this. Even if you don’t, there is still enough fresh material to warrant a listen. I do think it’s a terrific album. Naturally, the 180 gram double lp vinyl edition was my choice.
