How To Protect Your iPod From a Virus

If you recently bought an iPod for use with a Windows PC, you need to know that Yahoo! News is reporting that several new iPods have shipped from Apple pre-loaded with a computer virus. The original story reports that Apple’s claim is that “the virus can be detected and removed using many popular anti-virus software programs.” They also claim to have gotten “less than 25 reports concerning this problem,” since September 12th.

Windows iPod Virus

RavMonE.exe is really spyware, not a virus. It’s also one of the tougher pieces of spyware to deal with. It digs into the operating system so deeply that products like Norton AntiSpyware, McAfee don’t always detect it. You could try Ad-Aware, it’s one of the more comprehensive PC security tools out there. If your version of Ad-Aware doesn’t do the job, or if you’re just old-school, you can remove it manually. The instructions for that can be found HERE.
