Digital Power Station is a software-based technology developed by a consortium, led by Tony Bongiovi, that offers studio quality sound performance from small speakers. Originally developed for use in car stereos, iHome introduced it as the iHome IP1 Bongiovi home audio system, a high-performance speaker for use with the Apple iPod and iPhone.

iHome is a pioneer as a manufacturer of speakers and clock radios designed for use with the iPod. New York’s J&R Music World offers one of the most comprehensive selections of iHome products.

One year after introducing the world to the first home audio system to incorporate Digital Power Station (DPS) technology, iHome today announced new products for its highly acclaimed Studio Series line. Premiering at CES 2010, the new iP2 Home Audio System for iPhone/iPod and the iP49 Portable Rechargeable Audio System with Alarm Clock & FM Radio for iPhone/iPod are the next wave of innovative products to incorporate DPS technology, giving users new hardware options while maintaining the same high standard of audio quality set by the original Studio Series offering, the award-winning iP1.

The iP2 and iP49 are equipped with the patented Bongiovi Acoustics DPS technology that was developed by a team of audio engineers with years of experience in the music, television and motion picture recording industry. It is a complex, chip-based algorithm, custom-tuned to each and every product to maximize performance and provide studio quality sound, the way the artist intended it to be heard. The processor involved is active, meaning it constantly scans the program material in real time and effectively improves transients and harmonics that results in amazing highs, lows and clarity across all frequencies and volume levels.

The magic that drives our incredible technology actually comes from a long legacy of a man, a studio and dozens of the most talented artists that ever lived. The man is Tony Bongiovi, who, in 1977 built the world’s most famous recording studio: Power Station. Due to its breakthrough acoustical design and engineering, the Power Station Studios in NYC became the facility of choice for artists including Madonna, AC/DC, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith, The Beach Boys, Bon Jovi, Mariah Carey, Eric Clapton, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, Whitney Houston, Billy Joel, B.B. King, Paul McCartney, Willie Nelson, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Barbara Streisand, Neil Young, and many more.

When the focus is on digital music from an iPod, iHome and DPS is the best way to listen to your tunes beyond the earphone.
