Junior Boys Coming to Studio B in December
Canadian synth-pop outfit Junior Boys garnered quite a bit of buzz with their first record Last Exit back in 2004, but their sophomore effort So This Is Goodbye shows them really coming into their own. Featuring smooth, catchy beats that unfurl over drawn out grooves, Jeremy Greenspan’s breathy vocals keep the music from sounding cold or disconnected. It’s the warmest electronic album of the year, to be sure, and one that’ll grow on you with every listen. Certainly one of the year’s best.
And, lucky you, they’re playing at Studio B on December 7th, the hot new space that just opened this summer in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. While it might seem strange to have a nightclub in the middle of a desolate warehouse district of North Brooklyn, isn’t that what makes it cool? Featuring all the accoutrements of a tacky nightclub like fog machines, over-the-top lighting, and dark bathrooms, Studio B keeps it real by booking great independent artists and being in, well, Greenpoint. Tickets went on sale yesterday at TicketWeb, so pick yours up soon before they’re all gone.
