JVC Unveils World’s Smallest HDD Camcorder

JVC Everio GZ-MG730

The unceasing march towards smaller and smaller gadgets continues in the tech world with the announcement of JVC’s Everio GZ-MG730 digital camera. It’s the smallest hard drive based camcorder in the world, requiring no tapes and recording all of its video directly to the 30GB of memory built right in.

It’s a tiny, elegant camera that’ll make shooting video much more convenient for amateur videographers. It’s not quite jeans pocket sized, but it could easily slip into a jacket pocket or into a small purse without much trouble. And despite its diminutive size, it packs a wollop, delivering great quality video that looks great on the generous 2.7-inch touchscreen. Instead of a touchscreen, which are popular on many new camcorders, it has a “laser touch operation user interface” that lets you get at the menus without getting your screen all greasy. It also has a 10x zoom on board, letting you get nice and close to the action. Look for it to go on sale next month.
