LCD Soundsystem Aims For the Top

If you’re a fan of pop, dance, or upbeat rock music, you need to do yourself a favor and check out LCD Soundsystem’s new album, Sound of Silver. Not just for your own enjoyment, although there’s no way you won’t enjoy it, but also for the good of the music industry. What do I mean? Let me explain.

LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy has a goal, and that’s to have his new record hit #1 on the Billboard charts the week it’s released (that would be this week, to those not paying attention). It’s not because he’s an egomaniac or anything, but because he wants to prove that outsider dance music can catch on with the kids just as well as anything else. And with physical CDs not exactly flying off the shelves, he might just have a shot to do it. It’s a real underdog story, like the Bad News Bears, but it’s way, way catchier.
