Linux World will have a gathering at the Marriott Marquis, 45th Street and Broadway, on February 14 and 15. This Summit is the only event on the East Coast for the Linux and open source community that brings together industry leaders shaping the future of new enterprise technology with business and technical leaders deploying Linux and open source solutions.
Linux is a public domain; open source operating system that can work on a PC or Macintosh. It is based on Unix, and has gained support from IBM, Sun Microsystems, Novell, and HP, among others.
A favorite among computer programming techies, with a majority of the programming code written in C, an advanced programming language, most Linux software is freely traded. Although RedHat is a leading provider of Linux software solutions to the open market, most Linux applications are revised and traded by networks of programmers. There are generally no standard protectors that you are likely to find in commercial Windows software.
Nonetheless, since its inception in early 1990’s, Linux and interest in Linux continues to flourish albeit in a splinter market.
With a wide variety of sponsors, the Linux World Summit will surely be an exciting opportunity for active Linux entusiasts in the New York area.
