Melanie Fiona to Perform at J&R Music World February 9th
Melanie Fiona, singer/songwriter of Guyanese heritage who is from Toronto, will be performing and signing autographs 12pm, February 9th at J&R Music World, 23 Park Row, New York, NY. Her new single “It Kills Me” from her first album, The Bridge is heating up the radio waves. Her career has started strong. She opened for Kanye West on the “Glow In The Dark” European Tour in Nov. 2008. The Carson Daly Show gave her an “Artist To Watch” interview. Entertainment Weekly listed in in the “Top 5 Artists To Watch of 2009″. E! featured her on their Daily 10. August 6th, she performed on Jimmy Fallon alongside the Roots. Performed on Wendy Williams Show on September 14th. She is set to go on tour with Alicia Keys.
Living in a music filled household, Fiona says she always knew music was her passion. Her father was a guitarist in a band and would allow her to sit on the stage when she was younger as he practiced, and remembers her mother playing music at home; everything from The Ronettes to Whitney Houston.
Her performance at the Essence Music Festival in Houston in July was well received as was her performance on the Heineken Soul Tour, and sold out show at SOB’s in New York. She performed “The Star-Spangled Banner”at the NY Giant’s final home opener in Giants Stadium, September, 13th. Most recently, she tore up late night TV with her performance of “It Kills Me” on the January 13th Jimmy Kimmel Live. Watch video:
