Kodak announced that they’ve developed a new type of ink for printing photos with, one that’ll make consumers very happy. It’s great on two levels. First, the ink is archival quality that’ll allow your photos to last 100 years. Normal photo ink lasts for perhaps 15, which doesn’t exactly give you a permanent memento. Second, the price is set to be about half of competing inks. Printer ink is a notoriously expensive and overpriced product, and this move looks to shake up the entire market.
To go along with said inks are a couple of all-in-one printers, designed to scan, copy, and print their way into your hearts, fancy ink in tow. There’s no word on whether or not we can expect Kodak to release printers that are simple office printers or dedicated photo printers that use this new ink, but we can hope so. And come on, they probably will. For now, we’ll have to be happy with the larger all-in-one units, due to hit stores early next month.
