New Music This Week

After the dry spell in January, this month looks like it’s shaping up. This week has nine releases worth your attention. Yep, nine.

  • Local favorites Clap Your Hands Say Yeah released their latest, Some Loud Thunder. CYHSY remind us of the better Talking Heads stuff.

  • The Barenaked Ladies played Radio City this past November, to support their oddly named Barenaked Ladies Are Men. It’s got the fun, clever wordplay the band is known for.

  • Emo kids rejoice: The latest Fall Out Boy album just came out. Infinity On High should make FOB fans happy, while pleasing curious new listeners.

  • The self-titled album by American Idol favorite Katharine McPhee should make Idol fans happy.

  • The soulful singing of Norah Jones graces our CD players again with Not Too Late.

  • Remember Belinda Carlisle? She still looks & sounds great, as she demonstrates in her new album, Voila.

  • Jazz trumpeter Maynard Ferguson released On A High Note: The Best Of The Concord Jazz Recordings.

  • Broadway singer Elisabeth Winters drops an impressive first album, It Can Happen To Anyone.

  • Renowned singer-songwriter Rickie Lee Jones shares his voice and talents with us on her latest, Sermon On Exposition Boulevard.
