This Week’s Hot New Releases

Madonna I'm Going to Tell You a SecretThere are a ton of excellent new
releases this week.

Madonna’s live album, I’m Going To Tell You A Secret, is a must-have for fans. She performs all her classics, plus new ones from her last hit, Confessions On A Dancefloor. Nelly Furtado drops her latest, Loose, featuring her hit “Promiscuous.” Donnell Jones rocked the crowd at the J&R Summerfest, and Journey Of A Gemini should bring his skills to a wider audience.

Soca Gold 2006Soca Gold is a good introduction to a popular new musical style. Soca mixes Indian-style percussion with calypso melodies. It’s becoming the hot thing in clubs around the world and Soca Gold combines all the newest hits. You can also pick up Most Known Unknown– the latest beats by Three 6 Mafia, the group who showed us what Memphis hip-hop is all about. If you never made it out to Ibiza but want to experience that all-night rave vibe, then Why Try Harder collects Fatboy Slim’s greatest hits.

Frank BlackIf you just like to bring the rock, there’s plenty of new stuff to keep you happy. Releases by Frank Black and Guster should please any alt-rock fan. There’s also two best-of collections by other popular groups: Country-rockers The Old 97s and the experimental ambient rockers of Luna. You can also go old school with the re-release of The Jam’s first album, In The City — that mod sound still sounds good today. If that arena-rock sound is more your thing, you’ll want the big riffs and bigger vocals of Thin Lizzy’s best-of collection.

Whatever your tastes are, this week’s releases have you covered.
