I've been doing event photography for free on my sons soccer games and am trying to get into this already bloated market(or so those who are in it say so) and need a good zoom for soccer fields for a D40X or D60. A D90 would be my dream, but it'll have to wait.

Mine is a D40x, and my daughter wants it. I'm considering buying a new one, so what is the difference between d40x and d60. Thank you.

Ricardo

David, the size should be stamped on the inside of the lens cap, or written on the ring around the front of the lens, preceded by a diameter size in 'mm'. The diameter mark is a circle with a line through it. Should look like this.

I just purchased the D60 with the 18-55mm lens and would like to get a UV filter, but I can't find a marking on the lens that tells me which size filter it takes, and there seem to be many. IS there somewhere on the lens that indicates the proper filter size? If not, do you know which filter size that lens takes?

Sean, either choice is fine and more than adequate for a beginner. However, if budget is an issue, then I wholeheartedly recommend the D40.
