Nintendo Wii’s Initial Virtual Console Lineup Announced

Wii Virtual Console

The Nintendo Wii is coming on November 19th, and one of the coolest features of the next-gen console (besides the motion-sensing Wiimote) is the Virtual Console. What is the Virtual Console, you ask? Why it’s merely a way to play all of your favorite games from the original NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, and even the “oh yeah, remember the” TurboGrafx 16 on your brand spanking new Wii. Yes, you can finally throw away your NES.

Well, maybe. Not every game for the aforementioned systems will be available. In fact, there will only be one N64 game available at launch (Super Mario 64, of course) and two SNES games (F-Zero and SimCity). Not to worry, retro fans, as Nintendo plans to release 10 more games for the VC every month. That should fill in the gaping holes in the initial release list (no RPGs from Square? Come on guys.). The games will be available for download direct to your Wii for prices that vary based on what system the game was originally for. After the jump, the full list of games available for the VC at launch.
