Nokia Unveils its 4G Internet Tablet

Nokia N810

Everybody is always talking about 3G mobile internet. What is it? Well, 3G is the third generation of wireless connectivity. The iPhone uses EDGE, which is 2G, while beefier phones use EVDO, which is 3G. That’s all well and good, but what we’re all really waiting for is WiMax, which is 4G and about as fast as a cable modem wherever you are.

One of the first devices to be able to utilize new WiMax networks is the upcoming Nokia N810 WiMax Edition Tablet. This slick little device is like a tiny computer in your hand, designed expressly for surfing the web on a super-fast 4G network. It’s got a 4-inch touchscreen on board for controls, and it allows you to download any user-made program you want to it, making it completely customizable. At first, there won’t be too many places where WiMax will work, but as it expands, look for devices like this to become the norm.
