OLED Flat TV Comes To J&R

A new era of television is here. The Sony XLED-1 is the world’s first OLED TV. Currently, the XLED-1 is not available online and is in very few retail stores. But the future is now at J&R. You can experience the XLED-1 today at our video outlet, 31 Park Row in downtown Manhattan.
OLED stands for organic light-emitting diode. There’s a layer of organic material placed between an anode and a cathode, which in turn are sandwiched between two glass plates. When electric current is added, a bright light is produced from the organic material. What this means in terms of picture quality is an astounding million-to-one contrast ratio, wider viewing angles, and spectacular color reproduction. Black pixels appear absolutely black! OLED screen technology allows an amazingly thin screen of 3mm (about the thickness of three credit cards). And, since OLEDs are light-emitting, there is no need for a separate light source such as a backlight system (thus eliminating the possibility of mercury pollution). Power consumption is extremely efficient.
Pundits are heralding OLED as the “next big thing” in video. But the proof is in the picture. See for yourself today at J&R, 31 Park Row (directions).
