Online Anywhere

Picture of Nokia 770 in use

Here’s an interesting product: A portable Internet device made by a phone company, but doesn’t have a phone function. The Nokia 770 is a portable device that doesn’t do phone calls, text messaging or any of the stuff we all use to stay in touch nowadays. Instead, it gives you internet access on the go: The Nokia 770 uses a Bluetooth connection to use your cell phone as an online gateway, to get you online wherever you travel. The device also connects to your home WiFi router, so you can go online while you’re in bed. The idea is for the Nokia 770 to be a replacement for your PC — instead of having to walk over to the free computer, leave this on your coffee table or next to your bed and go online at your convenience.

The Nokia 770 has an 800 x 480 touch-screen display, with support for MP3, MPEGs, and all the more common graphics formats. Nokia reports a huge 7-day standby time, and a 3-hour browsing time. If you’re the kind of person who’ll need to check your email or do a quick Internet search when you aren’t anywhere close to a computer, we think this is the perfect product.

With a headset, you can Skype on this, right? Skype would make this a phone, correct? Also, I heard a report that it is very difficult to configure, has anyone tried to use it? I love the concept of this device, I want one, but can't tell yet if it will work for me.
