Opera Season Has Arrived in NYC
Where ever you are in the northern hemisphere, opera season is starting. New York’s Metropolitan Opera has started selling tickets to the public on 8/19. The season appears to be very innovative with an eclectic repertoire and new productions of Lucia di Lammermoor and Macbeth. Returning is last season’s sold out production of Barber of Seville.
Anna Netrebko will be returning to the Met, starring in Gounod’s Romeo & Juliet, for 11 performances in September, October, and December. In three of those performances, she’ll be co-starring with her frequent singing partner, Ramon Villazon.

Anna Netrebko’s newest recording, a Duet Album with tenor Rolando Villazon, has stormed the European pop charts in the best debut ever for a classical album. The recording which includes duets from Italian, French and Russian operas as well as a selection of duets from famous zarzuelas, entered the German pop charts at No 3 and the Austrian pop charts at No 4. It secured No 13 in the European Top 100 Longplay Charts.
See Netrebko and Villazon perform in your home in L’Elisir d’Amore and LaTraviata on DVD.
