Palm Centro Offers Cheap Entry into the World of Smartphones

Palm has just unveiled their Centro, a small smartphone that’s aimed at the decidedly non-business youth market with a pricepoint aimed to sell: a mere $99. One of the cheapest smartphones around, it’ll instantly grab your attention with its colorful, shiny finish. But looks aren’t everything; it’s what’s inside that counts.

It can handle things like email, text messages, and IMs as well as playing MP3s. If you actually do have some business to do, it can also do Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF files. It’s not as robust or fully-featured as many smartphones, but it’s also a fraction of the price of most smartphones. If you’re looking for a simpler smartphone not cluttered with features you won’t use, or you’re looking for a cheap way to get into the smartphone market, the Palm Centro might just be the gadget for you.
