Palm Unveils Foleo Subcompact Pseudo-Notebook

Palm Foleo

Palm unveiled their new Foleo device today, a small, 10-inch notebook-esque device that works in sync with a Treo to give your work a bit more room to breathe. Syncing wirelessly with the smartphone, the Foleo allows you to work on office documents and write emails using the full keyboard and 10-inch screen. It runs a version of Linux rather than Windows or Apple software, and has WiFi access.

Basically, it’s an extremely limited subcompact notebook. It’s perfect for people who want to travel light and only plan on using email, internet, and word processing on the go and would like to leave their notebook behind, but if you’ve got a PowerPoint presentation to edit or would like to have a more fully-functional device, you’re still going to need a real computer. Will the size-for-functionality compromise pay off for Palm? Only time will tell.
