Blu-ray as a format is finally maturing, and we are starting to see more Profile 2.0 players announced. The Playstation 3 being the first.
The first standalone Profile 2.0 player commercially available is the Panasonic DMP-BD50K. It’s the successor to the DMP-BD30K, a fantastic machine in its own right.
The DMP-BD50K adds BD-Live functionality, which uses the internet to further enhance your entertainment experience. BD-Live lets users connect their Blu-Ray players to the Internet to download data such as images and subtitles, and to join in quizzes and multi-player interactive games with other BD-Live users. BD-Live also supports other interactive functions, such as Picture-in-Picture, Director Commentary and Audio Mixing.
Of course, the DMP-BD50K will internally decode and bitstream both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio to provide reference quality audio, in addition to crisp 1080p visuals.
ExpoTV took a look at the DMP-BD50K at the Panasonic booth earlier this year at CES.
It looks like Panasonic has delivered another reference quality blu-ray player.

[...] These players will fit in nicely with the DMP-BD50K, which I recently blogged about. [...]
