Peerless Introduces New Slimline TV Mounts at CES 2010
Many people prefer mounting their flat-screen HDTV to a wall and Peerless mounts are the preferred brand.
When flat-screen TV models were introduced, many customers were asking for adjustable wall mounts that were almost flush with the wall surface. The objective was a mount that closely resembled a picture frame. Until now, most articulating TV mounts only got as close as about 3 inches off the wall’s surface. As LCD and (especially) LED HDTV screens begin to get thinner, the engineers at Peerless Industries re-developed the TV mount design to accommodate them. In addition, the designs incorporate features that adjust for odd shaped rooms and viewing situations. The new mounts are being unveiled at CES 2010 in Las Vegas.
Peerless Industries’ new Slimline Ultra-Slim Articulating Wall Arm Mounts shrink that gap to just 1 inch, holding the TV nearly flush to the wall for a space-saving designer look while allowing the screen to be positioned for full visibility wherever viewers are sitting.
The new mounts will be available in two models: the Slimline SLAMU for 32″ to 46″ ultra-thin TVs up to 60 pounds, and the Slimline SLALU for 37″ to 55″ ultra-thin TVs up to 100 pounds.
The new Slimline products – the first articulating wall mounts specifically designed for ultra-thin TVs – are intended for environments where the TV is installed in a less-than-ideal viewing position because of room shape or configuration as well as where the TV needs to be seen from adjacent rooms.
When retracted, the articulating arm holds the TV a fingernail’s width from the wall, all but hiding the mounting mechanism. When extended, it allows even the largest ultra-thin screens to tilt as much as 15-degrees with one touch, pivot a full 90-degrees left or right, slide 1-1/2″ side to side, and pull out as much as 28.9″. That adjustability is equivalent to other articulating mounts on the market even with the Slimline’s thinner frame, thanks to advanced engineering and extra-strength cast aluminum construction.
Flat screen televisions are now the rule rather than the exception. More homes are choosing wall mounts to save space and improve the overall home theater experience.
