Philips Sets TVs Aglow with Aurea

Aurea

Philips just announced their newest addition to their Ambilight line of televisions, the Aurea LCDs. What makes these stand out from other flat-panel HDTVs is the fact that they project ambient lighting on the wall behind the TV as well as on the bezel around the screen. It helps the picture “pop” a bit more, all while making your TV that much more unique.

There are 126 LED lights within the frame of an Aurea HDTV, giving an even glow throughout. As for the screen itself, it’s 1080p with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 3ms response time, a brightness level of 550cd/m2 and a true and dynamic contrast ratio of 1200/8000 to 1. It also has built-in speakers; 26, to be exact, which includes 24 front mini drivers and 2 subwoofer/mid speaker boxes. Its specs might not match those of super-high-end models from other brands, but if you’re looking for a unique HDTV that’ll deliver the goods with a twist, you can’t go wrong with an Aurea.
