Place shifting is all the rage these days, with everyone wanting to be able to watch and control their TV from anywhere. The SlingBox is the original when it comes to this technology, but that doesn’t mean they’re the only game in town. The new Pinnacle TVPC To Go has jumped into the field, and it has a few tricks of its own up its sleeve.
The main difference between the TVPC To Go and the SlingBox is that the TVPC is wireless, while the SlingBox needs to be run through a wireless router to get that capabilities. Furthermore, the SlingBox Pro can run HD feeds while the TVPC cannot. Neither of these things are too big a deal, as most people connect to a wireless router anyways and the only way you’ll get HD quality streaming over the Internet is if you’ve got a seriously thick pipe running you a connection. Like, you’re paying a thousand dollars a month for your internet kind of connection, which I’m assuming most people don’t have. Nonetheless, it’s nice to see some competition in the area, as that should help the next round of place shifters pony up even more innovation.
